Life in the Monastery centers on prayer and the chant of the Divine Office, which is sung five times a day on choir stalls that are over 500 years old! The Sisters earn their own living by providing Altar Breads to many parishes of the Archdiocese. Through the years, the Sisters have had gardens, mowed the land, and even had chickens, ducks, rabbits, goats, and even a lamb! Work can take many forms, as needed: music (organ, zither, guitar (we have 3) there are even recorders and a harmonica! There is also art work to do, such as painting, sculpting, ceramics (the Sisters made a large Sacred Heart mosaic for their Chapter Room-every Sister contributing), as well as regularly need work in cooking, making our Habits, sacristy work, cleaning, planning liturgies, etc.

Pray with us

The Monastery Chapel is not currently open to the public due to the Covid-19 restrictions.  We are praying daily for all our friends, neighbors, benefactors, and the world at large, particularly the sick and those who are caring for them, and also for peace and justice in the world.  We hope you will join us in spirit until we are able to be open to the public again.  May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be with you all, and God’s blessings on everyone.
